Archive – Calling All Dads: A Keeping Moms and Babies Alive Podcast

The Winnebago County Health Department is part of the Maternal, Infant, and Child Health Team which hosts monthly Podcasts on the 4th Thursday of every month (2nd Thursday in November and December) to bring families, providers, and community partners together.

The next Keeping Moms and Babies Alive Podcast is on Thursday, October 27 at 12:30 PM. Watch live on Facebook @KeepingMomsAndBabiesAlive

The topic being discussed is “Calling All Dads”. According to CDC, fathers’ involvement in their children’s lives has been shown to have a positive effect on children and their well-being in many areas; for example, increasing the chances of academic success, and reducing the chances of delinquency and substance abuse.

Dads play an important role in the lives of pregnant and parenting women. They provide support and encouragement as the woman adjusts to the many changes her body is going through.

During this Podcast, the Maternal, Infant, and Child Health Team will meet with support groups for dads in Winnebago County to discuss father involvement, the importance of a father’s relationship with their children, and how fathers can support each other. Join the discussion and hear about ongoing support groups for dads in our community and how dads are taking steps to show their support for pregnant and parenting women.
