MPOX Vaccine available at WCHD

MPOX (MPV/Monkeypox) Vaccine

Current mpox recommendations as of December 2023:

  • Mpox vaccine continues to be recommended for people with risk factors for mpox.
  • Those who receive mpox vaccine should receive two doses
    • If someone with risk factors has only received one dose, they should receive a second dose as soon as possible for greater protection.
  • People who have traveled to the Democratic Republic of the Congo that develop new, unexplained skin rash (lesions on any part of the body) with or without fever and chills should avoid contact with others and should seek medical care immediately.

MPOX vaccine is available at WCHD for those 18 years and older who:

      • Have had close contact with someone who has MPV

      • Are a man who has sex with men (MSM) gay, bisexual, transgender, or nonbinary

      • Have exchanged goods and services for sex in the past 6 months

      • Are eligible for or taking PrEP to help prevent HIV

      • Are living with HIV

      • Are anticipating experiencing the above risks

      • Have a sexual partner with the above risks

    Registration does not guarantee vaccination

Getting vaccinated before you are exposed to MPOX provides the best protection.
