Archived-MPOX Vaccine

Current mpox recommendations as of August 2024:

  • Mpox vaccine continues to be recommended for people with risk factors for mpox.
  • Those who receive mpox vaccine should receive two doses. The second dose should be given 4 weeks after the first dose.
  • People who have traveled to the Democratic Republic of the Congo or any of its neighboring countries (ROC, CAR, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, Zambia, Angola, Tanzania, and South Sudan) in the previous 21 days that develop new, unexplained skin rash (lesions on any part of the body) with or without fever and chills should avoid contact with others and should seek medical care immediately.
  • Vaccination is an important tool in stopping the spread of mpox. People who are vaccinated should continue to avoid close, skin-to-skin contact with someone who has mpox.

MPOX vaccine is available at WCHD for those 18 years and older who:

      • Have had close contact with someone who has mpox

      • Are a man who has sex with men (MSM) gay, bisexual, transgender, or nonbinary

      • Have exchanged goods and services for sex in the past 6 months

      • Are eligible for or taking PrEP to help prevent HIV

      • Are living with HIV

      • Are anticipating experiencing the above risks

      • Have a sexual partner with the above risks

    Registration does not guarantee vaccination

Getting vaccinated before you are exposed to MPOX provides the best protection.
