October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

As we enter October, the spotlight is on breast cancer awareness and the importance of early detection. According to the CDC, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women. Men also get breast cancer, but it is not very common.

Why Awareness Matters

Breast screenings can detect cancer early when the cancer is easier to treat, providing better treatment options and results. Understanding its risks, symptoms, and treatment options can save lives. Early detection through regular screenings and mammograms significantly increases the chances of successful treatment and recovery.

Take Charge, Get Screened

This October, take charge of your health and get screened for yourself and for those who depend on you.

Not sure if you need to be screened or need assistance accessing screenings or treatment, contact Your Winnebago County Health Department at 815-720-4000. We are here for you!
