WIC is Open at WCHD

The Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is open and serving residents. To access WIC call the Winnebago County Health Department at 815-720-4000 and choose option 1 for WIC.

Food Pantries

Local food pantries are available to support food needs. If you are going to a local food pantry, there are a few tips to know before you go. Use the Route Guide below from the University of Illinois Extension, Rockford Mass Transit District, NICNE and 100 Strong.

Beginning on Saturday, November 1, SNAP benefits will not be fully available to 1.9 million Illinoisans who rely on this funding to buy groceries. As of November 7, some SNAP benefits will be available. SNAP customers can visit snapfederalimpact.illinois.gov for the most up-to-date information and to find food locally.

This does not impact WIC services, which continue to be fully available through your Winnebago County Health Department.

You can help by supporting your neighbors. As more people need these resources, donating cash to your local food bank or pantry is an efficient way to help. Click here to learn more about donating to local food pantries.
